Any one make me clear about directory submissiob after the Google-update

Some webmaster are saying after Google update, that now there is no value of directory submission, is this true, we think not... as we've so many projects which we get well results by directory, SMO, social bookmarking, local listing and also forum posting ... please tell me if anyone have any views on this topic ...
